Vineyards

If the wine itself is an object of art, a vineyard is definitely the first step on this path.

Each vineyard is a story for itself.

FAMILY-OWNED

Ecological Farm

From 2023 the vineyards have ecological certificate with the european bio label. This certification ensures that the grapes used in wine production are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, mineral fertilizers and herbicides. Biomass is used as a nautral fertilizer. The vineyards are surrounded with varied greenery like trees and shrubs, where insects can live, breed and feed. Also there are numerous “insect hotels framed assemblies of hollow bamboo canes, sticks and hollowed-out bricks where beneficial insects can nest, breed and multiply.

We cultivate a small area (4 ha) of family-owned vineyards. The organic vineyards are a component part of the dynamic landscape and they are located in different plots around the village. In 2005 we started a systematic renovation (vine training system: single Guyot), so today our vineyards are planted with white indigenous varieties such as Zelen and Pinela. With addition of Istrian Malvasia, Italian Riesling (Welschriesling) and red varieties, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah.

The level of mechanization is low – the majority of work in the vineyards is done manually as it has been in the past.
